Turn Your Fan Content Into Part of Your Instagram Grid

Independent Artist Tips

Your fans are already creating content for you. Now, you can put that content on your Instagram grid with just a few clicks.

Instagram recently introduced a feature that lets you add posts you’re tagged in directly to your main profile, giving you a new way to showcase content without reposting it or creating a duplicate post.

For independent artists, this can be an easy way to make your profile feel more active, highlight your community, and give your fans another reason to tag you.

So, How Can Artists Use It?

There are plenty of ways to turn tagged posts into content for your profile.

A fan posts a video using your song? Feature it.

Whether they’re making a TikTok-style video, sharing their favorite lyric, or posting a clip of themselves listening to your track, adding it to your grid can put your music front and center while showing appreciation for the people listening.

Professional photos from a concert, festival, or pop-up can give your grid a fresh perspective while documenting moments from your live career.

You get featured by a playlist or a publication? Showcase the moment.

If another account posts about your music, tags you, and shares a milestone or feature, you can use the post as another way to highlight what’s happening around your career.

Turn it into a fan challenge.

Ask your fans to create posts using your music and tag your account. You can then select some of your favorite entries to feature on your grid, giving supporters the chance to become part of your artist page.

Highlight fan art and creative interpretations.

If someone creates artwork, edits, photos, or another creative piece inspired by your music, featuring it can show the different ways your audience connects with what you make.

Document your milestones through your community.

Did fans post about your first sold-out show, a new release, or seeing you perform live for the first time? Adding those posts to your grid can help turn individual fan moments into part of your bigger story.

How to Add a Tagged Post to Your Instagram Grid

Ready to try it? Here’s the basic process:

Get tagged in a post

Ask fans, photographers, collaborators, and other accounts to tag your artist profile when they talk about you.

Go to your Instagram profile

Open the profile for the account you want to add the tagged post to.

Open your tagged posts.

Find the post you’ve been tagged in through your profile’s tagged section.

Select the post you want to feature.

Choose the post you want to add to your grid.

Add it to your profile.

Tap the three dots in the top right of the post and select the option to add the tagged post to your main profile.

Check your grid

The post will appear alongside your own content, giving your profile another way to showcase your music and community.

As you build out your profile, think beyond just your own posts. Your Instagram grid can become a collection of your music, live moments, press, fan creations, and the people supporting you along the way.

So, start paying attention to those tags. And if you’re a Too Lost Artist, keep tagging us in your posts too. You might just see yourself featured on our grid.
