As of April 19, 2023 BeReal users can now include what they’re listening to on Spotify when making their daily post.

BeReal is a social media platform that randomly notifies users daily to make a post using their front and back camera. Once the user is notified, they have exactly 2 minutes to post or they will be considered “late”. The BeReal app emphasizes authenticity and encourages users to be genuine by allowing them to post only one photo a day. The music a user is listening to is certainly a meaningful component of a daily snapshot of thier life.

This new integration provides exciting new discovery and marketing opportunities for independent artists. Users can discover new artists by exploring what their friends and other users are listening to, and independent artists can gain exposure by having their music featured in the posts of BeReal users. This organic exposure can help artists naturally build their fanbase. Furthermore, this new integration presents the opportunity for artists to creatively market their music with BeReal. For instance, artists can utilize this integration by holding giveaways or competitions for their fans that have their music featured frequently in BeReal posts. Giveaways and competitions of this nature can drive streaming of their music on Spotify. 

Here’s the how to share what your listening to on Spotify in your BeReal: 

1. To connect your Spotify and BeReal accounts, you have two options. Firstly, eligible users can simply tap on the music icon displayed before posting their BeReal. Alternatively, you can navigate to the "Settings" section within the BeReal app, then click on "Music" and follow the prompts to connect to Spotify.
2. Once the accounts are connected, the song or podcast you are listening to on Spotify at the time of capturing a BeReal will be automatically pulled in, and you will see its cover art displayed at the bottom of your camera lens. 
3. See what your friends are listening to on your BeReal feed and see a preview of what they’ve shared.
