Artist Spotlight: Sasha Cee
Raised in Calgary, Alberta often dubbed the “Texas of Canada”, this Too Lost artist grew up immersed in country, bluegrass, and folk traditions, surrounded by some of the most striking natural landscapes in the world. Those early influences shaped her love for storytelling, but with a limited mainstream music scene at home, she set her sights south. At 18, she moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music, a pivotal step that launched her full-time pursuit of music.
She’s been songwriting since childhood, inspired early on by The Chicks and the narrative power of songs like “Travelin’ Soldier.” That emphasis on vivid, emotional storytelling still defines her work today. Her sound is lyric-forward and conversational, blending organic instruments with electronic textures and whimsical details—sometimes featuring less-expected instruments like harp or guzheng.
Now based in Los Angeles, she balances artistry with perseverance, working full-time while building her music career independently. That dedication has already paid off: her track “Shutter Island” is on track to hit 100,000 Spotify streams this year, achieved entirely through social media. Up next, she’s set to release her new single “Killjoy” on December 10, with a larger project on the horizon.
