20-year-old indie artist Ángel Loor’s influences come from two places that are over 3,000 miles apart: Madrid, Spain, and New Haven, Connecticut. The result is a sound that pulls from unexpected corners, blending two distinct worlds into something we can’t get enough of. 

The collision comes to life in his single “Paper Towns,” an indie pop record about the culture shock of moving from Madrid to New Haven. The experience proved formative. By 16, Ángel tapped into the East Coast underground scene, driving to see bands and artists that continue to influence his music today. He describes those early years as “living in his chords,” and giving his sound its distinct character. Drawing inspiration from artists like King Krule, Omar Apollo, The Killers, Selena, Hombres G, and Luis Miguel, Ángel blends melodic songwriting with fuzz, distortion, and unexpected sonic moments. 

Community has remained a central part of Ángel’s journey. From the scenes of Madrid to New Haven’s diverse underground rock and club communities, the people around him have helped shape his experience as an artist. Alongside creating and mixing his own music, he’s become a go-to producer for local artists in New Haven.

His second single, “Like It Was Before,” landed on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Indie playlist, while his third single, “Paper Towns,” was featured as one of VEVO’s Artists to Watch and landed on Apple Music’s New in Indie playlist. His latest single “Please, Please (Tell Me Your Name)” pairs catchy melodies with layers of fuzz and distortion, capturing the balance of familiarity and unpredictability that runs through Ángel’s sound.
