Artist Spotlight: Felix Ames
Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and now based in Austin, Texas, Felix Ames creates music rooted in soul, honesty, and spirituality. Raised in the tight-knit community of Brown Deer, Felix credits his humble upbringing with keeping him grounded and shaping the intentional way he approaches both music and life.
Though he had been singing since childhood, Felix’s journey as an artist began while he was studying pre-med in college. He started recording casually in GarageBand using Beats headphones and a built-in microphone, but he quickly realized music was something he wanted to pursue seriously. Inspired by artists like D’Angelo, Felix has since developed a sound centered on emotional authenticity and creative exploration.
His favorite part of being an artist is the process of creating, finishing a project, and then going back to the drawing board to discover what comes next. That spirit of experimentation was recently carried into his second fully independent album, Did The Rain Stop?, a deeply personal one where he documented his life and strongest emotions without trying to be anything other than himself.
Now, Felix is continuing to create on his own terms, with a short project planned for the fall and more music on the way. For an artist whose work is rooted in staying honest, his journey is ultimately about continuing to discover himself through music.
