Artist Spotlight: Couch Dog
Originally formed in San Luis Obispo, California, and now based in Los Angeles, Couch Dog is an indie rock four-piece making waves with their raw sound, high-energy live shows, and growing fanbase. Comprised of Maxwell Ferrer (lead vocals and guitar), Tasha Lee (bass), Pablo Acosta (lead guitar), and Liam Reece (drums), the band has built a reputation for creating music that brings people together, whether through catchy, punk-inspired hooks or the kind of live performances that make you want to jump straight into the mosh pit.
Since releasing their 2023 debut album, How To Ruin Your Life Fast, Couch Dog has earned more than 11 million Spotify streams and consistently reached between 120k and 180k monthly listeners. What started with packed house shows in their hometown has grown into a stronger national presence, including a successful U.S. headline tour in spring 2026, a sold-out show at The Observatory in Santa Ana, and a headline performance at Los Angeles’ iconic Troubadour.
As they look toward their sophomore album in 2027, Couch Dog is embracing a darker, more experimental sound while staying true to the raw energy that defines them. Drawing on garage rock, grunge, and post-punk, the band keeps exploring new textures and ideas without losing the infectious intensity at the heart of their music.
Their latest single, “Rod Sterling,” marks the beginning of this next chapter. Moving between ready-made garage-rock riffs and grunge-inspired intensity, the track captures the tension of fear and the unknown before shifting into a dreamy, meditative outro. The song’s evolving sound reflects Couch Dog’s willingness to push beyond familiar territory, balancing explosive energy with moments of atmospheric release. As the first single from their highly anticipated sophomore album, “Rod Sterling” offers a compelling introduction to the band's darker new direction and what’s still to come.
