Artist Spotlight: Chesca
From Puerto Rico, Chesca is bringing her roots, personality, and versatile sound to the forefront of Latin music. The Latin pop and reggaeton artist has built a career defined by bold collaborations, major performances, and a sound that reflects where she comes from.
A proud Puerto Rican, Chesca has always found inspiration in her culture. Growing up listening to reggaeton, she remembers asking her mom for pasteles and permission to listen to the genre for Christmas. Today, those early influences continue to shape her music and style. Inspired by artists like Celia Cruz, Tego Calderón, and Matt Louis, Chesca brings her own perspective to the sounds that shaped her.
Her breakout moment came with “Súbelo,” her Billboard No. 1 Latin Airplay hit alongside Pitbull, which earned her a New Artist of the Year nomination at the Premio Lo Nuestro Awards. Since then, she has continued to expand her reach through collaborations with Arcángel, De La Ghetto, and Offset, alongside performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and the Latin American Music Awards.
Now, Chesca is sharing a more vulnerable side of herself with her latest release, “ANDY.” Written at 2 a.m. following a breakup, the raw track captures the emotional tug-of-war of letting go while still holding onto feelings for someone. Drawing from the painful reality of watching a relationship turn toxic, “ANDY” explores the complicated process of missing someone while knowing that walking away was the healthiest choice. With its honest storytelling and deeply relatable message, the track is an anthem about accepting heartbreak, reclaiming your strength, and learning to heal without the person you miss most.
And while her sound continues to evolve, her connection to Puerto Rico remains at the heart of everything she does. Whether she's creating music inspired by her upbringing or enjoying a plate of arroz, habichuelas, and amarillos en almíbar, Chesca continues to celebrate the culture that made her who she is.
With “ANDY,” Chesca invites listeners to connect with a more vulnerable side of her story, proving that sometimes healing means letting go even when you’re not ready to stop holding on.
