Artist Spotlight: Blaxian
Blaxian is a homegrown talent from Washington, D.C., who’s been dancing since he was a baby. Raised around Georgia Ave and the Michigan Park area, he’s proud to call the city, famously known as Chocolate City, his home. From its music, food, fashion, and culture, D.C. has left an indelible mark on Blaxian, shaping both his sound and his identity.
Music has always been at the core of Blaxian’s life. His father, a musician himself, introduced him to the world of music early on. A VHS tape captured a one-year-old Blaxian dancing and turning up the radio, a memory that foreshadowed his future career. At 14, his dad gifted him two iconic Michael Jackson cassette tapes, Thriller and Off the Wall, which had been held since he was a baby. Jackson’s ability to make people move, paired with his positive messaging, became Blaxian’s biggest influence, alongside the creative storytelling of Tyler, The Creator.
Blaxian’s sound is all about connection and energy. “I enjoy making people move with the music and seeing people enjoy themselves,” he says. Even when his lyrics touch on sadness, his tracks remain upbeat and relatable.
Blaxian has achieved impressive milestones, including being interviewed on local TV, touring as an opening act for iann dior, and headlining his first festival. Fans have even more to look forward to with his upcoming single, Dance With You, dropping September 3rd.
Blaxian’s journey is a reminder of the power of authenticity, rhythm, and staying true to one’s roots. From D.C. streets to festival stages, he’s an artist ready to keep making people dance—and feel.
