Apple Music Opens New Live Music Venue in London
Apple is expanding its presence in the live music world with the opening of Apple Music Hall, a new 600-capacity venue inside London’s historic Battersea Power Station.
Designed to bring artists and fans closer together, the new space combines an intimate concert setting with the production capabilities typically found in much larger venues. The goal is to give artists more creative control while creating a unique fan experience.
A Venue Built for Artists
Apple Music Hall takes inspiration from Battersea Power Station, incorporating heritage brickwork, fluted arches, bronze balconies, and a large glass wall overlooking the building’s concourse and the River Thames.
Inside, the 38-foot-wide stage can be configured for traditional performances or more immersive, in-the-round setups. A 48-speaker spatial sound system surrounds the audience, allowing performances to be experienced in Spatial Audio.
The venue is also designed to capture the entire performance. Behind the stage are two professional recording and mixing studios, while the space is equipped for multicamera video and broadcast production.
That means artists can perform one intimate show and leave with a Spatial Audio recording, broadcast-ready mix, and multicamera video from the same performance. Shows can also be livestreamed globally, giving fans outside London the chance to experience them.
Apple Music Hall marks another step in Apple’s ongoing focus on connecting artists and fans through live music,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and International Content.
Apple Music Radio Moves to Battersea
Alongside the new venue, Apple has opened new London studios for Apple Music Radio inside Battersea Power Station. London-based hosts and shows will now broadcast live from the new location.
Apple Music Radio has long hosted artist interviews, premieres, specials, and live performances. The new studios will continue that programming while bringing Apple’s radio and live music operations together under one roof.
For artists, the combination of a dedicated live venue, recording facilities, video production, livestreaming, and radio studios creates new opportunities to turn a single performance into content that can reach fans around the world.
Apple Music Hall is now open, with upcoming shows and ticket information available through the venue’s website and social channels.
